Nassau County History Blog
Nassau County has a rich history. Some of the stories and artifacts of more than 200 years of European settlement and hundreds of years of Native American settlement remain, but some are lost. Still more of the county's history is locked away in private collections and attics and in the stories of those who lived it. I'd like this blog to be a gathering place where people can discuss, present and connect pieces of the county's rich history. Of course, since I'm a reporter, I'll mine it for story ideas. I'll also look for interesting parallels between historic happenings and more recent ones. It seems sometimes even when you know history, you're condemned to repeat it anyway, but it IS better to know.
