The Florida Department of Transportation will begin resurfacing 17 miles of Interstate 10 in Baker and Nassau counties beginning Sunday night.
The project will result in 24-hour lane closures along the stretch of road from U.S. 90 to the Duval County line, which is about three miles west of U.S. 301, according to FDOT.
Work on 5.5 miles of the road between State Road 121 and the Duval and Nassau counties line with two-mile lane closures will begin Sunday. Resurfacing 11.5 miles of Interstate 10 from west of State Road 121 to just west of U.S. 90 with two-mile lane closures will begin Monday.
FDOT said lane closures will not occur between Friday at 6 a.m. and Sunday at 9 p.m., due to high weekend traffic.
In addition to resurfacing the road, guardrails will be added at the overpasses, drainage pipes will be extended and crews will work on bridges, FDOT said.
The speed limit on the portion of Interstate 95 under construction will be reduced to 60 mph during lane closures and when workers are present, FDOT said.
The construction may cause uneven pavement. FDOT said the entrance and exit ramps to U.S. 90, State roads 121 and 228, and County roads 125 and 229 will remain open during construction.
For questions on the project, contact the FDOT Public Information Office at 800-749-2967.
