Melvin Usery announcement for the District One seat for the Ocean Highway and Port Authority

Melvin Usery, Nassau County small business owner and retired UPS manager, has announced his intention to seek the District One seat for the Ocean Highway and Port Authority. His wife Eleyce is a retired school teacher. They have two grown daughters, one living in Maryland and the other in North Carolina. The Userys are founding members of First Coast Anglican Fellowship in Yulee and both serve in lay leadership with the church. Mr. Usery has been active throughout Nassau County with numerous club and civic organizations, governmental appointed and consultant positions and volunteer work. Mr. & Mrs. Usery are members of the Nassau County Republican Executive Committee and also the Westside Republican Club. Mrs. Usery is Recording Secretary of the Nassau Federated Republican Women and Mr. Usery is an associate member.



Danny Leeper announces nomination for Board of County Commissioners

Long time Nassau County Port Authority member Danny Leeper announced today he will seek the Republican nomination for Nassau County Board of County Commissioners District One in 2008.

“Nassau County is faced with new challenges that will require new ideas and new energy. Public service has been a part of my life and my family’s life for many years. As a father, husband and public servant, I will bring my fiscal conservative views to the problems that challenge families, businesses and taxpayers of Nassau County.” Leeper said. “The need for fiscal sustainability and better management of the county’s budget is an obligation we have to the future generations. I believe I have the principles we need to succeed, and I am ready to lead.”
